Instructions for the Use of Biological Pesticide—Oligosaccharins in the Prevention and Treatment of Banana Vascular Wilt

Referred to the prevention and treatment of banana vascular wilt with oligosaccharins, the use of injection method or sprinkling method shall be decided according to the different disease conditions.
1. For those disease-free banana trees, only the sprinkling method shall be used.
2. For those slight or middle-sick trees, the sprinkling plus injection method shall be used. The slight or middle-sick trees and several their surrounding disease-free trees also shall be adopted the sprinkling plus injection method.
3. For those heavy-sick trees (the whole plant becomes yellow and wilted), the whole plant shall be removed and burned outside the plantation. The root hole of the plant shall be sterilized by Formalin, bleaching powder or lime.
I. Sprinkling method
1. To make up a prescription: Adding 15 kg (150 times) water into 100 ml oligosaccharins (special for banana tree), then mixing them as the sprinkling liquid drug.
2. Time of sprinkling and frequency: The first sprinkling shall be carried out when the banana trees has been planted and some diseased plants have appeared. Since then the sprinkling shall be conducted once every 60 to 70 days. In the rainy season (from June to October), the sprinkling shall be performed once every 40 to 50 days. The first sprinkling (for disease-free banana plantation) for prevention shall be conducted before the beginning of rainy season (after June).
3. Usage: Before sprinkling the drug, the soil connected to the root of banana tree shall be removed by a spade until the bulb appears, then the finished liquid drug shall be sprinkled around the root part of banana tree. The drug shall reach to the bulb and little roots and then seeping into the soil. After the sprinkling, the soil shall be covered again.
4. Dosage: The range and dosage of sprinkling shall be decided upon the size of plant. In general, the range of sprinkling shall be 5 to 20 cm larger than the bulb and the dosage is 0.5 to 1.5 kg for each plant.
II. Injection method
The injection shall be performed by an injector or by a pressure sprayer with an injection pin equipped on the mouth of sprayer. A hole respectively on the opposite side of banana tree bulb shall be firstly made at the angle of 45。by a long-rod screw-driver or injection pin. The locations of two-side holes shall be in the middle of bulb right side. The depth of hole shall be over half of the bulb, but shall not pass through the whole bulb and reach the soil. At last, the finished liquid drug shall be filled into the injector or drug cartridge and then be injected into the holes. The liquid drug shall be injected until the holes are full.
III. Prevention and nutrition
The Yuanfeng biological peptides (plant nutrient) with 300 to 400 times water added shall be sprayed on the upper and lower surfaces of leaf and the fruit respectively when firstly injection, before banana blossoming, on small-size fruit period and middle-size fruit period, then facilitating the recovery of sick banana tree and improving the output and quality of banana.
IV. Cautions
1. The drug shall be sprinkled or injected on a sunny day with dry soil. If the weather forecast says it will be cloudy and rainy recently, then the drug shall be use 2 days before the rain. If it rains 1 day after sprinkling, it shall be sprinkled once more.
2. Besides the use of oligosaccharins to prevent and treat the banana vascular wilt, the other measures for comprehensive prevention and treatment also shall be carried out, such as, seedling culturing in disease-free group, soil sterilizing before planting, installation of good field irrigation system and in-time removing and burning of dead plants, by which a better prevention and treatment effect will be achieved.
3. The oligosaccharins is used combined with the biological peptides.
4. During the period from the current sprinkling to next-time sprinkling, the banana plantation shall be inspected once every half a month. And when the new disease plant is found, the drug sprinkling shall be carried out immediately. |
